Open House 2008
Our open house this year was a huge success. New this year is our digital X-ray machine. Taking radiographs now takes minutes, the picture pops up on the main computer server in the treatment room within seconds. Every exam room is equipted with a widescreen monitor on which to view the images. Also available to our patients is full mouth dental radiographs, endoscopy, laser surgery and ultrasounds , abdominal and echocardigrams, that we generally get back the same or next day. This is a very important tool as it allows us to start treatment on your pet if necessary, almost immediately.
Dr. Gary Yarnell demonstrated what he looks for in a typical exam. His dog Kaylee was the "patient" and we hear that she slept very well that night! She was a star!
Dr. Shelley Skopit brought her dog "Beemer" and demonstrated how to take a pet's blood pressure. As an added "Treat" and treats they were, Shelley brought a big basket full to the brim of homemade, delicious, all natural, individually wrapped, each tagged with gold lettering and a gold bow......cookies for your pet!!
Dr. Jeremy Sabatini manned the endoscopy machine and explained how we look inside an abdomen for foreign bodies for example. Some dogs ingest strange things like childrens' toys, stockings, socks etc... Most of these things can be removed with a special attachment on the endoscope probe.
Dr. John Pisciotta showed how exams on exotics are performed. He gave information on bird diet and guests were able to view radiographs of exotic animals with interesting problems, one of which was a snake who ate his cage mate!!
Dr. Daniela Goldman could not join us, as she was at her bridal shower! We missed her!!
