INFORMATION ON MY DOG TRAINING SERVICES:

PRIVATE LESSONS IN YOUR OWN HOME:

Private lessons are helpful if you have a schedule which does not allow you to get to group classes or if you have a problem with your puppy or dog. In your home I can evaluate your dog in a familiar environment, meet all family members, explain my training method and address your individual needs. We then make a plan for further training together.

New Puppy Visit: 1 hour. I will evaluate your puppy and give you recommendations on how to bring out the best in his/her personality. I will also screen your puppy for any problem behaviors that need addressing. I will look at your home environment and make suggestions on how to set the puppy up for success. If there are children in the family I will teach them appropriate games to play with the puppy. We will discuss a housetraining routine, socialization, and we will work on puppy sits, paying attention, self control exercises, coming when called and leash walking . Follow up visits of one hour may be arranged at your house or I can recommend a puppy class for you to attend, if we decide together that is a better option.

New Dog Visit: 1 hour. I will evaluate your new dog for you, screening for any problem behaviors that need addressing. I will review your home environment and make recommendations on how to manage your new dog successfully. We will discuss a housetraining routine and work on sits, paying attention, self control exercises, coming when called and leash walking. Training exercises of your choice may also be included. Follow up visits of one hour may be arranged at your house. I can also recommend a good positive group training class for you to attend if we decide that would be a good option for you.

Basic Training Visit: 1 hour. With your dog of any age we will review your goals, your training skills and any training the dog already has. Then we will make a plan to help the dog and you succeed together. Getting the dog to pay good attention to you, and helping you understand how dogs learn will be addressed.
Depending on your needs we will work on a variety of training exercises that we will decide on together. Follow up visits of one hour may be arranged. I can also help you find a suitable group class when we feel you and your dog are ready for that option.

Problem Solving Visit: 1 - 2 hours. I will assess your dog’s problems and together we will make a plan to help resolve and manage them. Common problems that need addressing are house training, separation anxiety, aggression towards other dogs, barking, chewing, fearfulness and anxiety in general. You will learn how to manage your dog while we work on retraining and behavior modification routines.
