BT Rescue Canada
Fostering

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada (BTRC) does not have a shelter facility, so all rescued dogs stay in foster homes until forever homes can be found. As a foster parent, you will be asked to commit to providing a temporary home for several days or weeks, during which time BTRC will be looking for the perfect, permanent adoptive family for the dog. Rescue will pay all medical charges for the Boston while in your care. You will be asked to provide food, love, and emotional support during this crucial transitional time. You may also need to administer medications, or provide basic obedience training. In addition, you’ll give us feedback about the dog so that we can ensure a good match.

BTRC always has a need for good foster homes. Some Bostons who come to us have been neglected or abused. Some were given away because they were “too active”,“too old”, or because they’ve been replaced by a new baby, a new pet or even new furniture! Some have had beloved owners die. Even dogs that are physically healthy and well looked after can be emotionally distraught and confused by the loss of their former homes.

BTRC can usually find homes for all our Bostons, but it takes time! We want to find the perfect family, so that our dogs will not suffer yet more confusion in the future. This is where foster parenting comes in. Nothing is more rewarding than to take in a sad, lonely, despondent dog and see him or her turn into a loving and happy pet. And when they leave for their new permanent home, you will have the joy of knowing the part you played in making it all possible!
