Many people don't understand why we have to charge a fee for our animals, when many private individuals give unwanted kittens and puppies away for free. The reason we charge for our animals is that we provide medical care to ensure that our animals are healthy. If you were to pay to have the medical care we provide done on a free kitten or puppy, it would cost several times the amount of our adoption fee.
Our adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $115. This includes all shots (parvo/distemper, rabies) up to date as of the day of adoption, heartworm testing and preventative, deworming, spay or neuter at the Charlotte or Cabarrus Spay/Neuter Clinic, and micro-chipped as well as any medical care the dog or puppy may need during his or her time with us. All medical care after adoption, with the exception of the spay/neuter in the case of a puppy that is too young to have the surgery before adoption, is the responsibility of the new owner.
Our adoption fee for cats under the age of 6 months is $60. For cats over the age of 6 months, our fee is $50. This includes all shots up to date as of the day of adoption, feline leukemia testing, deworming, spay or neuter surgery at the Charlotte Spay/Neuter Clinic, and any medical care the cat or kitten may have needed during his or her time with us. All medical care after adoption, with the exception of the spay/neuter in the case of a kitten that is too young to have the surgery before adoption, is the responsibility of the new owner.
